THE PERFECT DAY
Your day in detail
1. Departure from Brussels. We set off at 09:00 AM from the National Bank of Belgium, directly opposite St. Michael & St. Gudula Cathedral, where you board our comfortable luxury coach.
2. St. Bernardus Brewery. Our journey takes us into Flanders Fields for a visit to St. Bernardus Brewery. Enjoy the modern, self-paced visitor experience with an audio guide and discover the story behind one of Belgium’s best-loved beers.
3. Lunch with a view. After the brewery visit, enjoy a classic Belgian lunch of Flemish stew prepared with St. Bernardus beer and served with a St. Bernardus beer. A vegetarian alternative is available on request. Before leaving, take in the 360° rooftop view across Flanders Fields.
4. Westvleteren – In de Vrede. Next, we continue to Westvleteren for a stop at In de Vrede, the café opposite the famous abbey. Although visits to the abbey and brewery are not possible, this is the perfect place to taste Westvleteren beers and browse local beers and souvenirs.
5. Ypres and the Last Post. In the evening, we travel to Ypres, where you will experience the Last Post at the Menin Gate. Every evening at 08:00 PM, this moving ceremony honours the fallen and missing soldiers of the First World War. In keeping with the tradition of respect, there is no applause after the ceremony.
6. Return to Brussels. After the Last Post, we head back to Brussels. During the return journey, you will be served a Belgian cheese and charcuterie platter, while a selection of Belgian beers will also be available for purchase on board throughout the trip.
