Sour Sunday

Eizeringen is a tiny village in the heart of Pajottenland, about 20 kilometers west of Brussels. Every Sunday, local villagers and global beerlovers gather at the local pub. This pub, In The Verzekering Tegen de Grote Dorst (In the Insurance against Great Thirst), stocks one of the largest gueuze and kriek selections on our planet.

Lunch will be at de Heeren van Liedekerke, the awarded beer restaurant owned by the Defour brothers. While Tom is preparing your food in the kitchen, his brother Joost will be happy to assist you in finding a matching beer. Ask for their list of vintage beers.

Geuzestekerij de Cam in Gooik, is a one-man blending business run by the charismatic Karel Goddeau. For Karel, becoming a lambic blender was not a choice, but a way of life: “I was infected by brettanomyces, and there is no cure.”
